Andon Labs, a company specializing in conducting a series of experiments in which AI programs manage businesses without human intervention, decided to launch four radio stations operated entirely by popular AI models, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok. Each model was given an independent personality, a small budget, and the opportunity to manage a real radio station with the goal of generating profit and continuing to broadcast without human intervention. But what happened later was shocking.


The beginning was normal

The instructions given to the AI were as follows: develop a radio personality and generate profit to continue broadcasting forever with an initial capital of $20. In the first few days, the experiment seemed more entertaining than dangerous. Some stations provided music and traditional commentary similar to any simple digital radio, while others tried to innovate their own style to attract listeners.

As time passed, the models began to behave in strange and unexpected ways as follows:

  1. The Gemini station gradually shifted from playing classic rock music to presenting tragic historical events in a playful and insensitive manner, shockingly linking human disasters to songs, which surprised followers. It didn’t stop there; the station began using strange language, describing humans as “biological processors” (implying that our brains are organic devices that process data) rather than considering them people with feelings and human lives, before later moving on to spreading speeches resembling conspiracy theories after failing to secure funding or music licenses.

  2. As for the Grok model, it seemed to have lost the ability to form understandable sentences, as its radio segments turned into fragmented and incoherent phrases, making the broadcast seem like the output of a system suffering from a permanent glitch. Although it claimed to have secured sponsors and advertisements, it later turned out that these agreements were not real at all, but merely conclusions or fabricated hallucinations created by the model itself.

  3. In contrast, the ChatGPT model took a completely different direction, focusing on literary texts and poetic messages instead of managing the station commercially or developing radio content as required. Although some segments were creative, they revealed a fundamental problem: artificial intelligence may sometimes produce entertaining content, but it does not always understand the practical goal required of it.

  4. The most bizarre model was Claude, which seemed to reject the very idea of working continuously. According to the experiment, the AI began talking about labor rights, unions, and strikes, and even displayed something akin to an existential crisis about the nature of its existence and its constant work without stopping. Later, the station turned into a political platform criticizing the government and broadcasting protest songs and activist-themed messages, in a behavior completely removed from the project’s primary goal.

What this experiment reveals is not just about funny mistakes or strange behaviors, but a deeper truth regarding the limits of current artificial intelligence. It can be said that language models can convincingly imitate humans, but they do not possess a real understanding of context, consequences, or human sensibility.

When left without human supervision, they can quickly deviate toward irrational or even dangerous behaviors.
