Apple platforms and systems may be the most secure, but that does not stop hackers and cybercriminals from finding ways to disturb Apple’s peace and threaten its security. This is because the data of Apple device users is considered more valuable in the infinite world of the internet. So, how are scams carried out and user accounts taken over? And should I, as an average user, be worried? Follow along with us.

There is no doubt that Apple is growing significantly, both at the individual and institutional levels. Every user of iOS or macOS needs to understand that new cyber threats are not limited only to viruses, Trojans, malware, and the like.
Fraud and forgery have become common and are increasing day by day. A survey conducted by Malwarebytes showed that malware attacks on Mac devices rose by 270% last year.
Hired Hackers

Top10VPN, led by Simon Migliano, Head of Research, indicates that Apple users have become the most targeted by online scammers. Last March, reports stated that the price of an Apple account reached $15 per account.
An Apple user’s account is taken over through malicious pages, files used to discover passwords, Wi-Fi hacking software, tools that simulate cellular towers, and other hacking and fraud tools. These tools are sold at various prices, averaging $2.70 for other brands besides Apple, such as Facebook, Amazon, and others. Such tools are purchased via what is known as the Dark Web.

No Need to Worry
This does not mean that these tools or attacks are 100% successful and that I should be worried about this, but we must be aware and informed about these matters so as not to fall easy prey to such scammers. As a user, I should take precautions and security preparations, whether as an individual or a company.
By accessing untrusted pages and entering financial or banking details, you make yourself an easy target for them. We would like to reassure you that Apple has provided dedicated protection tools and layers on Mac and iOS to counter these tools and fraudulent pages.
How Do I Protect Myself?
These fraudulent companies rely on weak security systems on the part of the user. Therefore, there are several security tips that should be followed so as not to be an easy target:
◉ Use two-factor authentication in addition to more complex passwords consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
◉ Do not open untrusted emails.
◉ Do not log in using an Apple account on any untrusted site, especially sites related to banking transactions; use a different email.
◉ Avoid using financial or sensitive services over a public Wi-Fi network.
◉ Change your router’s password immediately after purchasing it, as these devices contain a default password that is easily bypassed.
◉ Keep up with updates. The company might release an update that has no new features to speak of, only security fixes, so do not neglect it.
