Welcome, friends, to a new tour, but not a traditional tech tour! Today, we are talking about the weekly “Apple Crime Log,” where our favorite devices sometimes turn into undeniable evidence, smart tracking tools that expose thieves and save the day, or even a stage for unexpected drama. This week, we have a strange and exciting collection of incidents: starting with a bizarre confrontation at an Apple Store, moving through AirPods acting as undercover investigators, reaching the smart use of AirTag to track the path of a detained person, and ending with a dark case starring an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Drama at the Apple Store: A woman refuses to leave the “Genius Bar”!
Going to an Apple Store to fix an iPhone can be a routine experience, but not for 59-year-old Susan Morrison from Texas. The story began when Susan headed to the Apple Store at the Orland Square Mall in Illinois to fix her phone, but she was not at all pleased with the service she received from the employee in charge (the Genius).

Instead of leaving and complaining to customer service in the traditional way, Susan decided to escalate the situation dramatically. She started shouting loudly and refused to leave the store entirely, claiming that the mall was “public property” and no one had the right to kick her out! Of course, the police had a different opinion when they arrived, explaining to her that the mall is private property and its management has the legal right to ask her to leave. When the lady insisted on her stubbornness and refused to exit, she was officially arrested and charged with criminal trespassing.
AirPods turn into undercover informants and expose thieves

Everyone knows that the Find My network is great for finding your lost items, but for thieves, this feature is their real nightmare that exposes their movements with extreme precision. In Kentucky, a man reported several valuable items stolen from his car, and among the stolen goods were his AirPods. The man did not stand idly by; he opened the Find My app on his iPhone and tracked the signal of the stolen earbuds, which led him directly to the famous Popeyes chicken restaurant.
When the police arrived at the specified location, they found a suspicious GMC Sierra truck, and the surprise was that the 39-year-old thief was fast asleep in the back seat! After obtaining his consent to search the vehicle (as he claimed innocence), investigators found the victim’s credit cards, 16 pieces of stolen tools worth nearly $6,000, in addition to an unlicensed handgun and the stolen AirPods. He ended up behind bars on charges of theft and possession of a firearm.

In another similar incident in Wyoming, the Cheyenne Police Department was able to solve the mystery of a series of car break-ins that affected eight vehicles thanks to stolen AirPods. One of the victims tracked the location of his earbuds to guide the police directly to the home of a 19-year-old teenager named Anthony Graham. Ironically, the police later arrested the young thief while he was at court to attend a hearing for an entirely different case, leaving him to face eight new theft charges thanks to the earbud location that secretly exposed him.
Innovative and smart: A wife tracks her husband in detention centers via AirTag

A wife from Texas named Madison Cryder took a proactive and unconventional step to protect her husband, Victor Peralta Perez, who is from Venezuela and was awaiting a decision on his humanitarian asylum case and had no criminal record. Before her husband went to a mandatory annual appointment with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the wife secretly placed an AirTag tracking disc in his clothes, in case of any emergency.
Indeed, her fears were realized; the authorities suddenly detained her husband without prior warning. Thanks to the AirTag, the wife was able to track her husband’s movements precisely through various detention centers and military bases between Texas and Arizona, as this was her only way to check on his location and know where he was being transferred during periods when communications were completely cut off. In the end, the husband chose to leave the country voluntarily because he could not bear the difficult detention conditions and the uncertainty surrounding his future.
An education official falls due to shocking content on an iPhone 17 Pro Max

We come to the darkest part of this week’s log, where a former vice president of a school board in New York, 46-year-old Travis Longo, was arrested and faces serious charges. The case began after a thorough search of his personal iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange, where Homeland Security agents found highly offensive and shocking materials related to child exploitation (CSAM).
Investigations and files extracted from the iPhone 17 Pro Max showed the existence of tragic photos and videos depicting infants and minors in illegal positions, in addition to text conversations showing his suspicious interests. This shocking case prompted the school board to vote unanimously to force him to resign immediately from his position after the major scandal revealed by the contents of his personal phone.
