It seems the relationship between the two giants is no longer limited to fierce competition, but has transformed into a technical partnership that will change how we interact with our daily devices.
Google is the Cloud Engine for Apple’s Upcoming Intelligence
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stood confidently in front of the Apple logo to announce that his company is Apple’s “preferred cloud partner.” According to his statements, the collaboration aims to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models based on Google’s advanced “Gemini” technology.
These models will not just be minor improvements, but the primary engine for upcoming Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized and intelligent version of Siri. While Apple has not set a precise launch date for the new Siri other than that it will be in 2026, expectations now clearly point to Gemini-powered AI features being the backbone of iOS 27, expected to be released this fall.
What Awaits Us in the “All-New” Siri?
Leaks and reports paint an exciting picture of what Siri will look like under the guise of iOS 27. Instead of the traditional assistant we know, it is rumored that Apple plans to launch a standalone Siri app, with a persistent chat history and an experience very similar to modern chatbots. Even more exciting is Siri’s expected ability to execute multiple, complex actions from a single voice command.
It is worth noting that Apple changed its iOS version naming system last year, using iOS 26 instead of iOS 19, which makes the upcoming update carry the number iOS 27.
