iOS 27 Leaks: A Revolution in Apps and Preparation for the Foldable iPhone

As the announcement of Apple’s new updates approaches, it seems that iOS 27 will not only improve Siri but will also bring a true revolution in how we interact with our daily iPhone apps. From a camera that will become smarter and more customizable, to an Apple Wallet that will completely replace plastic cards, to preparing the system to support Apple’s long-awaited foldable phone. Here at Phonegram, we have gathered all the leaks and details about the upcoming app features in this massive update.

New app features in iOS 27

Camera App: A New Era with Siri Mode and Full Customization

The biggest change coming to the Camera app is moving the Visual Intelligence feature from the Camera Control button to become a core feature within the app itself, under the name “Siri Mode.” When you switch to this mode, you will notice the Apple Intelligence logo appearing on the shutter button, allowing you to ask questions directly about anything the camera lens sees.

Apple didn’t stop there; the camera will add amazing AI capabilities, such as scanning nutritional ingredients on food to track calories and macros in the Health app, and scanning business cards to add contacts directly. Additionally, the app will become fully customizable for professionals, allowing you to replace top shortcuts (like flash, timer, and exposure) and place them as tools in any order you prefer via a transparent tool drawer that appears from the bottom.

Photos App and Smart Editing Tools

The Photos app will get a dedicated AI section called “Apple Intelligence Tools,” which will include revolutionary features like “Extend,” allowing you to generate additional content outside the original frame of a photo when cropping or zooming via gestures. There is also “Reframe,” designed for spatial photos to change the perspective of an image after it has been captured.

Apple is also testing an amazing feature that lets you edit photos using natural voice commands, such as asking Siri to “make the lighting warmer” or “crop the photo to fit Instagram” without technical complications—a feature that may arrive in subsequent minor system updates.

Wallet and Shortcuts Apps: Intelligence in Transactions and Tasks

Tired of keeping paper or plastic cards? In iOS 27, the Wallet app will introduce a “Create a Pass” feature to scan physical tickets, gym membership cards, and cinema tickets, converting them into digital cards that are fully customizable in terms of colors and fonts. Apple will use custom colors to distinguish cards: purple for events, blue for subscriptions, and orange for other cards.

As for the Shortcuts app, it will be able to create multi-step tasks simply by explaining what you want to do to Siri in natural language, and the AI will assemble the shortcut and install it immediately on your behalf. Apple Cash will also get a smart feature for splitting bills by simply taking a photo of the receipt to automatically send payment requests to friends.

Foldable Phone Interface and Support for Large Apple Screens

Leaks strongly suggest that Apple will launch its first foldable iPhone this coming September, with a 5.5-inch external screen and a massive 7.8-inch internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio (similar to the iPad). Because this screen requires a flexible operating system, iOS 27 will focus on providing a special interface that adapts to the foldable phone.

The phone will run a modified version of iOS rather than iPadOS, but it will offer an iPad-like experience when opened, such as running two apps side-by-side interactively and providing sidebars in Apple apps for easier navigation, while giving developers the necessary tools to easily adapt their apps to this new design.

iOS 27 Snow Leopard Update: Super Performance and Total Stability

Renowned analyst Mark Gurman described iOS 27 as an update similar to Apple’s legendary “Snow Leopard” system. This means the primary focus behind the scenes will be on cleaning up the system code, getting rid of old and inefficient code, to provide a super-fast and responsive experience and significantly save battery life.

The new version will also bring wide-ranging improvements such as enhanced smart writing tools for interactive grammar correction, a feature for generating custom wallpapers via the Image Playground app, an updated start page in the Safari browser, and advanced satellite connectivity features like Apple Maps via satellite and sharing photos in Messages without cellular coverage.
