Leaks reveal surprises in the foldable iPhone Ultra

Apple has not yet unveiled the foldable iPhone, but it seems the new phone has already started turning heads before its official debut. Early tests and first impressions point to a practical design and a unique experience with the large screen. However, amidst this early admiration, a detail has emerged that might not go unnoticed, especially given the phone’s high price. iPhone Ultra Design

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, those who have tested the foldable iPhone praised its size and its ability to fit easily into a pocket, as well as the feel of the design when held and the quality and durability of the hinge responsible for opening and closing the device.

Gurman explained that when the phone is opened, Apple takes advantage of the large internal screen through a new app interface that is very similar to how apps are displayed on the iPad, giving the user more space to utilize the device while working, watching videos, and playing games. The role of the large screen is not limited to these uses alone, as it can also be relied upon to display the scene in front of the camera and preview the image before capturing it.

The camera might be the problem

Despite these positive impressions of the iPhone Ultra, the camera system may become one of the most significant weaknesses of Apple’s foldable phone. Reports indicate that the phone will only have two rear cameras: the main one will feature 48 megapixels, along with an ultra-wide lens, with no telephoto lens.

It can be said that the absence of a telephoto lens will cause dissatisfaction among many users, especially given the high price of the phone, as some may feel that a device at this cost should have offered a more advanced camera system that includes a third lens for zooming.

Touch ID instead of Face ID

Another drawback that could affect iPhone Ultra sales is that Apple has decided to rely on the Touch ID fingerprint sensor integrated into the side button instead of the Face ID sensor integrated under the screen.

It is expected that this move is related to Apple’s attempt to maintain the device’s thinness, as projections suggest its thickness might be only about 4.5 mm when opened. On the other hand, Gurman believes that some users might prefer Touch ID as a traditional and fast method for authentication.

Large screen and a hefty price

The foldable iPhone is expected to come in a horizontal, book-like design, with a 5.5-inch external screen and an internal screen of about 7.8 inches when the device is opened, figures that place it in the category of large-screen foldable phones.

Finally, Apple plans to unveil its foldable phone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max during an event to be held next month, specifically on September 9th. As for the price, the iPhone Ultra will start at $2,000, while it may exceed $2,500 for models with larger storage capacity.
