5 Android phones with cameras that rival the quality of the iPhone 17 Pro, but at lower prices.

Whether you're an Apple fan or not, there's no denying the high standard the iPhone 17 Pro sets for smartphone photography, including video. Its triple-camera system delivers accurate color representation, reliable high dynamic range, and support for professional file formats like ProRes and Apple Log. However, the catch is Apple's premium pricing, which puts the 256GB model at around $1099.99. The iPhone 17 Pro has been hailed as a fantastic phone since its announcement, but honestly, there are better and comparable offerings on the Android side at a lower price. Is that true? After reading this article, please share your thoughts in the comments.

It's no surprise that Android phones offer better specs or lower prices than iPhones. Many flagship Android phones rival or even surpass the iPhone 17 Pro's camera. These phones boast larger sensors, wider optical zoom, sharper images, and superior image processing. Simply put, these features give you greater control over shooting, color, and zoom, without the need for digital zoom, which often degrades quality. Most importantly, all of this comes at a significantly lower price.

Undoubtedly, savvy photographers will have a fantastic experience with the iPhone 17 Pro, thanks to its 48MP main camera, 48MP ultra-wide camera, and 48MP telephoto camera. However, it's not the best value for money when consumers look at competing Android phones. Here are five Android phones that offer significantly better value when it comes to image quality, versatility, and overall value for money, all within a stunning metal and glass enclosure.

Samsung S24 Ultra

From PhoneIslam: Four Samsung smartphones in gold, purple, black and gray are displayed upright side by side, with a black stylus next to the gold phone - providing an alternative style to the sleek designs of the iPhone 17 Pro.

The Samsung S24 Ultra is one of the best phones for photography, and it's now more affordable with the launch of the S25 Ultra, priced at $825 new and around $730 used in excellent condition. Its 200MP main camera uses a massive 1/1.3-inch sensor, which is great for capturing detail and dynamic range, provided the lighting is good.

Samsung employs “pixel aggregation” technology, resulting in clean 12-megapixel and 50-megapixel images while preserving fine texture, something smaller sensors struggle with.

The S24 Ultra's zoom capabilities surpass those of the iPhone 17 Pro thanks to its 3x and 5x optical zoom lenses, offering users more framing options without the need for digital cropping. This isn't to say Apple's 4x optical zoom is bad—it's undeniably excellent—but the S24 is more versatile for sports, travel, and wildlife photography. Ultra-wide shots are nearly equal in this regard, with strong autofocus and excellent edge sharpness.

The iPhone 17 Pro remains the most consistent choice for video recording, but the S24 Ultra offers very competitive specifications such as 8K video recording, high frame rates at 4K, and good stabilization, making it easy to replace the iPhone. For users who prioritize zoom and sensor size, the S24 Ultra is a strong alternative to the iPhone 17 Pro, saving $250 or more.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

From PhoneIslam: A hand holding the iPhone 17 Pro with a cat background, surrounded by floating app widgets displaying the time, weather, calendar, messages, and media controls on a black background.

For photographers who want the latest and greatest in photography, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra builds on the strengths of the S24's camera while improving almost every component. The upgraded 200MP main camera sensor is better at capturing light and has more advanced autofocus, while the also-upgraded 50MP ultra-wide camera boasts sharper details and better low-light performance than the S24. For photographers who focus on architecture and landscapes, this is a great choice.

Like the S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra wins when it comes to zoom. It retains 3x and 5x optical zoom, both of which are proven to provide a wider field of view compared to the iPhone 17 Pro.

The video capabilities of this model continue to build upon those of the S24. While the iPhone 17 Pro may have superior video capabilities, the S24 delivers strong performance, supporting 8K and 10-bit HDR, which is more than enough for most users. The key factor here is the price; paying $924 instead of $1100 makes Samsung the more logical alternative for those looking for a professional camera at a reasonable price under $1000.

Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL

From PhoneIslam: A person wearing a wireless earphone is holding a gray Google Pixel smartphone, featuring a large rear camera module with three lenses, reminiscent of the rumored design of the A17 Pro smartphone.

Google uses the same camera setup in the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, with the main differences being a larger battery and screen on the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Google's approach to photography and videography relies more on its software than its hardware, focusing on the mainstream market, but the Pixel 10 Pro and XL still boast some impressive specifications. Its 50MP main camera uses a slightly smaller sensor than Samsung's, but Google's computational photography consistency delivers accurate exposure, natural colors, and strong HDR.

The 5x optical zoom lens delivers sharp results within its optical range, with features like Zoom Enhance that expand the zoom functionality while minimizing distortion. The ultra-wide-angle performance is decent, aided by autofocus to enable macro shots, a feature the iPhone 17 Pro struggles with. The Pro XL truly excels when photographers need extra battery life for extended shooting sessions, and the larger screen comes in handy for editing and reviewing photos on the go.

The Pixel 10 Pro offers excellent video performance thanks to 10-bit HDR and superior 4K stabilization, and although it still ranks second to the iPhone 17 Pro in this area, the difference in quality is no longer a justification for the price gap.

Oppo Find X9 Pro

From PhoneIslam: Two Oppo smartphones, one silver and the other gray, have been placed facing each other with triple rear camera modules and the brand's logo, providing a stylish alternative to the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro.

In a surprising turn of events, the best alternative to the iPhone 17 Pro for photographers wasn't made by Samsung or Google, but by Oppo, the maker of the world's thinnest foldable phone. The specifications are impressive, featuring a 50MP main camera with a fast f/1.5 aperture and a large sensor, and a 200MP optical zoom lens that delivers exceptional detail and longer focal lengths. For photographers who demand the best optical performance from their smartphone camera, this is the option.

OPPO’s partnership with Hasselblad is clearly reflected in the rich color calibration that gives videos a unique cinematic look. Unlike Apple’s more restrictive approach, OPPO provides creators with full manual controls, LOG shooting support, and high-bitrate recording. While the iPhone 17 Pro remains the most reliable and stable option, OPPO opens up broader horizons of technical and creative freedom for photographers.

The only problem is getting one. Buyers won't find this phone in department stores, but it can be found through specialist retailers like Wondamobile, offering a $200 savings and specifications that match or exceed those of the iPhone 17 Pro.

Important noteWhen purchasing an Oppo Find phone, remember that the company's update policy varies depending on the country of origin. To ensure a smooth user experience and avoid language or software compatibility issues, be sure to select the correct "regional version," as security and software updates are sent exclusively to the regions for which the phone was designed.

In your opinion, are the advanced cameras in the iPhone 17 Pro worth the large price difference compared to powerful Android alternatives, or has value for money become the most important factor for photographers today? Let us know in the comments.

Something sad

In Syria, we have seen only 10% of the technology, unfortunately. We don't know why we are forever deprived.

The cameras on the iPhone 17 Pro are advanced and will appeal to photographers; I hope the price remains reasonable.
