We are just a few days away from the start of Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. As the event approaches, major leaks have begun to emerge, revealing the features of the upcoming iOS 27 operating system. This time, renowned journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg brings us an exciting report with unexpected details, including radical changes in how the iPhone handles external devices and AirPods, along with new artificial intelligence touches and an intriguing change to the Siri interface.

Comprehensive Reorganization of AirPods Settings
Since their initial launch in 2016, AirPods have evolved from simple wireless earbuds into fully-fledged smart devices offering complex features like Active Noise Cancellation, Personalized Spatial Audio, hearing health features, and even real-time translation during conversations. With the proliferation of these features, the settings panel for the earbuds within the operating system has become cluttered and confusing for the average user.

According to Gurman’s leaks, Apple plans to resolve this clutter in iOS 27 by completely redesigning the AirPods section in the Settings app to be more organized, functional, and user-friendly. Although Apple previously considered creating a standalone app for managing the earbuds (similar to the Apple Watch and Vision Pro apps), it has currently settled on restructuring the settings to highlight core features and facilitate access across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
An Unexpected Surprise: Google Cast Support on the iPhone!
In a historic move that may change the closed nature of Apple’s ecosystem, leaks indicate that iOS 27 will include native support for competitor streaming protocols, most notably Google Cast. This means you may soon be able to stream videos, photos, and audio clips from your iPhone directly to any smart display or speaker that supports Google’s system, without needing to rely exclusively on AirPlay.

Most excitingly, the system may allow users to set Google Cast as a default streaming option from Apple devices. While this move is driven by regulatory pressures in the European Union, it is not yet clear whether Apple will make this option available to all users worldwide or limit it to the EU, as it has done previously with some external compatibility features.
Powerful Upgrades for AI Tools: Genmoji and Image Playground
Although previous reports confirmed that Apple would allow third-party AI programs and apps like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to run within its system, the company is not neglecting the development of its own engines. In iOS 27, image generation tools like Genmoji and Image Playground will receive a significant boost thanks to Apple’s self-developed models, which will lead to noticeably improved quality and faster response times in generating images and emojis.

Siri 2.0 Permanently Wears the Dark Theme!
The personal assistant Siri will undoubtedly be the shining star at the upcoming developers conference with its entirely new interface based on AI conversations. However, there is an interesting technical detail reported by Gurman; it seems the new Siri interface (such as the search and query bar at the top) will rely completely and exclusively on Dark Mode, regardless of whether you have Light or Dark mode enabled on your iPhone.

This new design explains Apple’s complete reliance on dark color tones in the logos and materials for WWDC 2026 this year, as the typing indicator will appear blinking in vibrant, interactive colors that harmonize beautifully with the deep black background, giving a futuristic and distinct character to the next generation of Siri.
Certainly, it seems that iOS 27 will not only offer revolutionary AI features but will also focus on improving the daily user experience and making the iPhone more open to the outside world. Not much time is left to see all these features officially, as the live stream of the conference will kick off on June 8th, and we will be with you as always to cover every detail.
