We are not talking about minor increases here, but jumps starting from $100 and reaching hundreds of dollars on some base models, making upgrade plans for many users in need of urgent reconsideration and additional, unexpected budgets.

What is the reason behind this fierce attack on our pockets?

In an official statement addressed by Apple to the international press, the company justified these unusual increases by citing a sudden and unprecedented rise in the costs of supplying essential components, specifically storage memory and RAM. The company stated: “We have never seen a rise in component prices of this magnitude and speed. We have protected our customers from these increases throughout the past period, but we have now reached a point where we must begin raising prices on a number of products, including the current increases for iPads and Macs.”

From Phonegram: A table showing the new Apple device prices and their increases, where the base iPad recorded the highest increase rate of 28.7%, while the MacBook Neo with Touch ID recorded the lowest increase rate of 14.3%.

It is worth noting that the RAM specifications and storage capacities did not see any change or improvement in the devices affected by the increase; the prices simply rose without offering any additional benefit to the consumer. However, there is a slight bright spot: iPhones and Apple Watches have not been affected by this increase yet, and Studio Display prices have remained unchanged. The question currently posed is: Are these prices temporary and will they decrease when global memory supply markets stabilize? Or will we have to live with these high prices as a new reality?

Will there be an increase in the price of the iPhone 18?

From Phonegram: A detailed drawing of iPhone components with a comparison table showing the estimated cost increases between the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro, highlighting key parts, total costs, and new Apple device prices.

Recent reports and analyses (issued by reliable sources such as The Wall Street Journal and TechInsights) indicate that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro may see a historic and unprecedented increase in its global price, with the expected price for the base version approaching $1,299 to $1,399, which represents an increase of $200 to $300 compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. The main reason behind this sharp rise is the massive jump in internal component costs and supply shortages; the cost of RAM (12GB DRAM) has more than tripled (from $39 to $145) due to high global demand for AI technologies and computing servers, and the cost of the storage unit (256GB) has also risen from $13 to $51. In addition to the jump in the total manufacturing cost of the phone from $582 to $726, leaks also indicate Apple’s intention to introduce an entirely new camera system with a variable aperture lens, which will raise the cost of the camera system alone by 50%, putting enormous manufacturing pressure on the company to maintain its profit margins and thus pass this cost on to the final consumer.
