Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 kicked off today, and as we all expected, this was no routine update. It was a complete reimagining of Apple’s vision for the future, specifically in the field of artificial intelligence. Perhaps the most memorable event is that this conference marks the final keynote for CEO Tim Cook, who bid farewell to developers with touching words, announcing the end of one era and the beginning of another, smarter and more powerful one. Let’s dive into the details of this historic event and review the most important announcements from Apple, starting with iOS 27 all the way to the revolutionary new Apple Intelligence.

iOS 27 and Exceptional Performance for Older Devices

In a move that delighted millions of users around the world, Apple announced that iOS 27 will support all devices starting from the iPhone 11 and later! Yes, you read that correctly; Apple continues to provide its legendary support for older phones, making this update available to the largest possible number of users. Apple didn’t stop there; it focused amazingly on improving small details and the core performance of the system, optimizing internal components to make response times much faster than ever before.

Apps now open 30% faster, whether they are Apple’s own apps or third-party apps. New photos in your library appear up to 70% faster, while photo transfers via AirDrop are 80% faster. Apple didn’t forget the iPad, where browsing and transferring files from the Files app to external storage drives is now five times faster, making it match the speed of the Finder app on Macs perfectly.

Additionally, Apple has re-scheduled the CPU in an intelligent way that ensures ultra-fast response even when running multiple, intensive tasks on older phones, making your old device feel like it has been given a whole new lease on life. The developer beta is available today, with the public beta launching next month, and the final system arriving for everyone this September.
Apple Intelligence and the Historic Surprise Collaboration with Google

The biggest surprise of the conference was the announcement of a revolutionary infrastructure for Apple Intelligence, but this time in collaboration with search giant Google! Yes, Apple has collaborated deeply with Google to leverage the technologies behind the Gemini family of models to develop Apple’s foundational models and adapt them to run with incredible efficiency on personal devices and private servers.

Apple emphasizes that privacy in artificial intelligence is non-negotiable; it relies on on-device processing, in addition to Private Cloud Compute technology, which ensures that Apple or any other party cannot access your personal data at all.

However, there are some regulatory hurdles; the new Siri AI will not be available in European Union countries on iOS and iPad systems due to local laws, and its launch in China will be delayed until regulatory requirements there are met.

Siri AI will be available for free with the new system update, but with some usage limits on daily use to ensure service efficiency, while iCloud+ subscribers will be able to enjoy higher usage limits and advanced features that meet their sophisticated needs.

The All-New Siri Revolution and Innovative Visual Intelligence

It is time to say goodbye to the old Siri that was limited to simple tasks. With Siri AI, Siri has transformed into a truly super-capable and intelligent personal assistant, possessing a very natural expressive voice, and is now able to understand context and conduct continuous, extended conversations without any feeling of artificiality.

The coolest feature is Siri’s integration into the Dynamic Island in an visually attractive way, in addition to providing a dedicated Siri app on the phone and Mac to review your previous conversations and sync them via iCloud so you can continue your conversation from any other device. Apple Watch users also received improved and more responsive integration.

And it didn’t stop at text and chat; Siri now possesses amazing visual intelligence built into the camera. For example, you can simply point your iPhone camera at a restaurant bill and ask Siri to split the bill among your friends, and it will calculate everything and send the amounts directly via Apple Cash! Siri has also been integrated into the Spotlight search feature on Macs, so you can select multiple files and ask Siri to compare them and choose the best one among them with complete intelligence.

Even developers received revolutionary tools; Apple launched the developer package for foundational models that enables them to integrate Siri and AI capabilities into their apps with complete ease, in addition to a super coding assistant built into Xcode that helps in writing and testing code in a fully automated way.
If you are asking which languages Siri supports, it will support English only at launch, but other Apple smart features will support the same previously supported languages.

Revolutionary Image Processing and Spatial Reframing

For photography and photo editing enthusiasts, Apple Intelligence has brought super features that will completely change how we handle our shots. Starting with the revolutionary Spatial Reframing feature, which allows you to re-adjust the angle and framing of a photo after it has already been taken! You can simply drag the photo and change the camera perspective, and the AI will generate entirely new content to fill the gaps resulting from the perspective change, while maintaining the consistency of the original scene amazingly, as if you had gone back in time to take the photo from a completely different angle.

Also announced was a new and completely improved version of Image Playground, which allows users to create realistic photographs or edit them based on a simple text description, with the ability to include real people from your photo library and transform them into different artistic styles. The Cleanup tool received a huge upgrade to remove unwanted elements with extreme precision, alongside the Extend tool to expand the edges of photos with amazing natural intelligence.

macOS 27 Golden Gate and Daily App Intelligence

As for the Mac system, Apple announced macOS 27, named Golden Gate, which focuses heavily on refining the visual details that users prefer. Responding to user feedback, Apple developed the elegant Liquid Glass interface, with the ability to control transparency through a dedicated slider, and added new layers of liquid glass to app icons to give them amazing depth and a harmonious look that is easy on the eyes.

Apple Intelligence has extended to other daily apps; for example, the Home app now uses AI to analyze recorded video clips from security cameras and summarize what happened in clear natural text, in addition to merging consecutive alerts from cameras into a single activity to avoid annoying you with frequent repeated notifications.

The Safari browser now has a Notify Me feature to monitor pages and inform you of any new updates based on your request in natural language. It also works with the Passwords app to automatically update your eligible accounts to strong passwords with a single click and without any intervention from you! The Messages app now understands the context of conversations to suggest quick actions such as creating a reminder or finding appropriate photos and sending them with one touch.

Child Protection and Tim Cook’s Touching Farewell

Apple has paid great attention to children’s digital safety by introducing powerful and flexible parental control tools in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics. Parents can now set precise schedules and define specific times for using gaming, entertainment, and social media apps, with the ability to easily convert existing regular accounts into child accounts with customized setup suggestions from experts.

The automatic protection system against sensitive content has also been expanded to go beyond nudity warnings to include clips and images of violence, blood, and destruction, to protect children’s eyesight and mental health while browsing devices. Parents can also add other trusted adults, such as grandparents, to manage the system and approve purchase requests or website browsing directly via the Messages app.

At the end of the presentation, Tim Cook took the stage in a very emotional moment to deliver his final speech at his last developer conference as CEO of Apple after a career full of unprecedented achievements and successes.

With a tone full of gratitude and tears welling in his eyes, Cook said: “It has been the honor of my life to contribute to developing this mission with teams whose creativity, dedication, and conviction in making a real difference in people’s lives know no bounds. Thank you all, and let’s enjoy a wonderful WWDC.”
