iPhone 19 Pro Leaks: Apple Testing Prototype with Quad-Curved Display

While the world is still eagerly looking forward to Apple’s upcoming phones in the near future, it seems the Apple leak train has jumped ahead in time to talk about 2027! Yes, we are talking about the twenty-first generation of iPhones. According to the latest leaks from China, Apple is currently testing a prototype of the iPhone 19 Pro that features an entirely new, revolutionary display, which curves gently on all four sides to completely eliminate the concept of traditional bezels and take us into a new design era.

An imaginative concept of an iPhone with a screen covering the entire front with curved edges

“Quad-Curved” Display and Invisible Face ID Technology

According to the famous leaker “Digital Chat Station” on the Chinese platform Weibo, the iPhone 19 Pro, which is currently in the evaluation and initial testing phase, features a display that curves on all four sides (top, bottom, and both sides). This unique design would make the phone look like a piece of pure, polished glass in the user’s hand, enhancing the device’s aesthetics and the experience of holding it like never before.

From the Phonegram website: displays colorful app icons and the time 11:12 on its screen against a purple gradient background with abstract shapes.

But what is interesting is not just the curvature, but what lies beneath this screen. The leaker explains that the current prototype contains a small hole in the screen for the front camera, but the Face ID facial recognition technology is completely hidden directly under the display without any additional cutout. This means that Apple plans to gradually phase out the “Dynamic Island” and return to a purer interface that combines a traditional camera with hidden sensors.

It is worth noting that this leaker has a proven track record and high accuracy in predictions and designs for Apple devices; they previously accurately revealed the general design of the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro, in addition to the 48-megapixel triple rear camera system for the iPhone 17 Pro. They also recently indicated that Apple’s first foldable phone will be named “iPhone Ultra”.

The Dilemma of Distinction and the 20th Anniversary Phone

These leaks raise an important question about Apple’s future strategy. Multiple previous reports have indicated that Apple is seeking to launch an exceptional phone to mark the twentieth anniversary of the iPhone’s launch (the 20th anniversary in 2027), with this exceptional phone featuring a quad-curved display completely free of any holes or cutouts, with the camera and Face ID hidden entirely under the screen panel.

If Apple decides to roll out quad-curved displays to both the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max, it might reduce the company’s ability to distinguish the special 20th-anniversary phone, which is supposed to be an ultra-premium category. This is where the “front camera hole” comes in as a key differentiator; standard Pro phones might retain the small camera hole, while the 20th-anniversary phone gets the full, continuous display without any visual obstructions.

However, Apple faces extremely difficult technical challenges in developing an under-display selfie camera that does not negatively impact image quality. Under-display front cameras often suffer from a decline in image detail and color accuracy due to light passing through the screen pixels. If Apple does not reach a technology that delivers image quality worthy of its strict standards, it is very unlikely to release a completely full screen, leaving the form of distinction between 2027 phones pending the maturation of technical solutions.

What do you think of quad-curved displays? Do you see them as a revolutionary step in design or do you prefer flat screens? Share your thoughts in the comments!
