Apple updates us on its popular e-book reading app iBooks 1.2 It is the first update launched by the company for this application, and we wanted to review with you the additional features of this update, which would make the e-reading experience more enjoyable and useful:

First: the search feature in the library
Where with the crowding of books in your electronic library it becomes sometimes difficult to search for the desired book, in the previous version you could search in the library, but by displaying the books in a list. In this update, you can search for the book you want in the same way as the library (shelves) are displayed with ease as you have Except pull the shelves to the bottom and the search box will appear, and it provides the ability to search in: book title, author's name

Second: Collections or Collections
Where you can now distribute your books into groups so that each group has its own separate shelves and this helps you to better arrange your library, and it mainly contains two groups: books and PDF files, and then you can create the groups that you want.

Books can be transferred to groups with the following steps

  1. Click the Edit button in the top right of the library
  2. Choose the books that you want to transfer to the new collection
  3. Click the Move button in the top left of the library
  4. Choose the new collection you want to transfer the books to, and you will notice that the books have disappeared into the existing shelves and special shelves have been created for this group

Third: the ability to print and send
As this new version of the application provides the ability to print PDF files and notes that you write on books, using the special AirPrint, as printing the e-book itself is not available and this is logical: first in terms of preserving rights, and secondly because it is electronic and we do not need to print it for reading :)

You can find the Print and Send button for notes you write in a book or Notes on the index page of the book

Fourth: The illustrated book
This is a good feature that Apple adds to the application, which is the ability to publish picture books such as books and children's stories in particular, so that the pages of the book are a complete picture and the text is written on in the places designated for it.

Fifth: adding the hyphen between the lines
It is a good sub-addition, especially in the English language, where the word is linked if it is at the end of the line so that the same word is completed in the new line and linked with a sign “-” which is known as Hyphenating, and this would increase the number of words in a single line and thus reduce the size of the pages of the book

Finally, as you have noticed, there is no special update that supports the Arabic language yet, and we hope to see that soon, such as:

  • Support book browsing from right to left
  • Arabic dictionary support
  • Application lists and features in Arabic

We wish you a pleasant reading ..
