Some companies reject the leaks completely, while others use it as a nearly free marketing tool! On the other hand, we find that Apple is one of the companies that hate leaks. Apple has worked for a long time to improve its approach to dealing with leaks and information theft, and today Apple is on the verge of moving to a completely new phase of fighting leaks, but first ... What is Apple's history with leaks?

Apple's iPhone Leaks

The beginning of the risk of leaks with the iPhone 5C

The iPhone 5, which was released in the year 2012, was one of the best Apple phones at all, as it came with a different design from the previous generation as well as the increased strength of its internal specifications, so this phone garnered a huge audience and therefore users were waiting for the iPhone 5s on Warmer than the next year, which is also the year the iPhone 5C was released.

In the summer of 2013, Apple was exposed to one of the most powerful incidents of leakage in its history, as the iPhone 5C, which was coming in distinctive and different colors, was stolen through a factory in China by an employee, but this employee - and those who helped him - were not stolen. Only one phone leaked its design and stole 19.000 units! The funny thing is that Apple had to buy these units again from the thief in order to avoid a leak, but that was almost impossible.

This image has spread on the Internet many months before the date of the phone’s release, and it is more ironic about this case that the thieves have already sold some phones for multiple purposes as some of them were sold to journalists and others were sold to ordinary users for sure twice the price.

Apple establishes a dedicated team to protect products

Yes, this has already happened, as Apple, after the iPhone 5C incident, has formed an integrated team called the New Product Security Team, which is usually referred to as NPS.

The mission of this team was - and still is - following up with the global suppliers of Apple and monitoring them to protect any theft or leakage, and this team has done its work perfectly, as in the year 2014, 387 iPhones were stolen during the manufacturing phase, and this number decreased to only 57 per year. Next, this team also prevented a very funny incident, as they caught a number of employees who were digging a tunnel to leak devices from inside the factory to outside!

Apple's iPhone Leaks

The problem of Apple exceeded factories and suppliers, in the year the launch of the iPhone 8, the largest source of leaks was the headquarters of the company!

Due to the great success of the NPS team, leaks and device thefts from factories have decreased dramatically, with the main source of leaks being the company's headquarters in Cupertino itself! Accordingly, Apple reduced the size of the NPS team a little, and on the other hand, it relied on other companies for follow-up and monitoring, as the crisis of suppliers and factories had ended, but another crisis had begun.

Electronic leaks are Apple's new weakness

As we explained to you previously, Apple was able to monitor the physical leaks and prevent them as much as possible, but the real crisis for Apple in these times is electronic leaks and this is due to the presence of engineering programs that allow the leakers to create a Render or an imaginary three-dimensional design that is able to convey a complete suspicion of the phone. .

What happened is that only four months after the launch of the iPhone XS, that is, at the beginning of this year, leaks began about the next phone through the leak, Steve Hemmerstoffer, who was able to see special files showing the design of the iPhone 11, and of course he published everything He knows him online!

In light of all this, Apple has now started to manage the matter differently, as there are strict rules within the company’s doors, and all files within the company or between the company and between suppliers and partners have become transmitted through high-protection networks, and the use of services such as Google services or Dropbox for file sharing. And the matter is not exclusive to Apple, for example, Google agreed with its suppliers that the resource that will cause the leak will pay $ 25 million! This is with the exception of Foxconn Factory.

What do you think of the general leaks? Do you think that the leaks are in the interest of the user, or do surprises spoil him? Share your comment!
