If you own an iPhone 14, and you see a message that says “SIM is not supported”, you are not alone, Apple has acknowledged the problem and issued a new support note acknowledging that there is a bug in the iOS 16 update that causes these problems in SIM cards. And cellular data, but what if you encounter such a problem now before Apple releases an update to solve it?
The problem was first revealed by MacRumors, and the site recently pointed to a note shared by Apple, indicating that this error message appears for some users of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, as well as iPhone 14 Pro. Max, and the iPhone can enter a frozen state after viewing the message.
So far, there is no easy solution to this problem. Apple believes that it is a software problem related to the operating system and not a problem with the internal components of the iPhone, but it advises users not to take any action or solutions on their own.
If the issue does not resolve on its own after a few minutes, Apple tells users not to attempt to restore the devices themselves, but instead take the phone to an Apple Store and see an expert or authorized service provider. It is reported that Apple is still investigating the problem and understanding the faults.
SIM problems are not the first
Although it was a relatively smooth launch of the iPhone 14 range, it wasn't entirely perfect.
◉ After the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro, a strange problem appeared, which is the camera shake in some third-party applications such as TikTok and Twitter.
◉ Problems with call and app notifications have also been reported.
◉ Some users were experiencing low microphone volume through CarPlay.
◉ Others experienced faster than expected battery drain.
iOS 16.0.3 has been released and fixed most of these issues, but it seems that this latest SIM issue was not covered by the fix package or a side effect of the latest update.
Apple is expected to release a more comprehensive and stable update which is the iOS 16.1 update that it has been working on for a while, and it will be released in the coming weeks, and hopefully, it will address the SIM issue and other issues.
As for the iPhone 14 group itself, it was the first major batch that fully supports eSIM and without a traditional SIM tray, and thus Apple took steady and bold steps towards digital cards, leading other phone companies in that.
With eSIM technology, a user can keep up to eight SIM cards on their device simultaneously, with two separate phone numbers at the same time. However, some frequent travelers said that changing SIM cards quickly and frequently can cause problems for local networks when you're abroad.
