Earlier, Apple revealed the official schedule for its thirty-fourth annual conference for developers around the world. The keynote address for the event is scheduled for Monday, June 5th, and this conference is usually held to announce the latest versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Moreover, Apple may sometimes announce some devices in the opening speech. Several rumors throughout the year indicated that Apple might announce three new devices at this conference.

15-inch MacBook Air

Some have been circulating rumors of a larger 15.5-inch MacBook Air, which is supposed to be launched by the summer. It will be sold alongside a new version of the 13.6-inch MacBook Air, so customers will have the option of a MacBook Air with a larger screen and lighter weight compared to the MacBook Pro.

The 15.5-inch MacBook Air‌ will be slightly larger than the old 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, ranging in size from the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. We expect the 15.5-inch MacBook Air to be a larger version of the 13.6-inch MacBook Air introduced last year, without any real noticeable design changes.

It's not entirely clear what processors Apple will be integrating into the ‌15-inch MacBook Air‌ due to the unusual timing, and Apple could use the M2 processors released last year, but it looks like it's too late. On the other hand, it's still too early for M3 processors to debut. However, editor Chi Kuo said, the upcoming MacBook Air will have M2 and M2 Pro processors. 9to5Mac claims that the new device will use Apple's latest M3 processor‌.

Mac Pro

Apple plans to update all of its Macs to the Apple Silicon and completely eliminate the use of Intel Mac Pro processors, which is the only model left to move to the Apple Silicon. Apple had initially estimated that it would take a few years to complete the transition after introducing the first Apple silicon chip in 2020, and 2023 appears to be the year when this process will be fully completed.

A new Mac Pro is expected to be launched this year, and it is expected to come with a similar design to the current model with a stainless steel frame and an aluminum cover, and users will have easy access to the internal components.

The device is expected to come with an M2 Ultra chip with a CPU of up to 24 cores and a GPU of up to 76 cores, with support for no less than 192GB of RAM.

It is known that the Mac Pro is a high-performance desktop computer, designed to handle demanding tasks, and its performance depends on the internal components, such as the processor, RAM, and GPU.

And Apple recently switched from using Intel processors to Apple silicon processors, and these new processors showed promising performance in standard tests, but they suffer from some limitations in terms of upgradeability.

For example, on the Mac Silicon, components such as RAM and GPU are soldered onto the motherboard, which means users can't upgrade them themselves. This could become an issue for the new Mac Pro, which is typically used by professionals who need to upgrade their hardware over time as needed.

And if the Apple Silicon processors do not provide enough performance to handle future tasks, the Mac Pro may not be able to receive the necessary upgrades to improve its performance, because neither the RAM nor the GPU can be upgraded.

There have been circulating rumors that the Mac Pro is expected to be launched during the first half of this year. In the past, Apple used the developer conference as a platform to announce devices that specifically catered to developers and designers. Therefore, it is very likely that we may witness the unveiling of the Mac Pro at the upcoming event.

Mac Studio

In March 2022, Apple launched the Mac Studio, which is a combination of Mac mini and Mac Pro. It is also equipped with M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors, and although it is technically an upgrade, the future of the Mac Studio is still uncertain in light of expectations that the new Mac Pro will be released soon.

A revamped version of the Mac Studio will reportedly use the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, which are also believed to be used in the upcoming Mac Pro. Using the same chip technology in both the Mac Studio and Mac Pro raises questions about how Apple can differentiate between the two products. It is likely that there will not be a Mac Studio series with an M2 processor as a result.

Since there are no rumors about a new Mac Studio, it is not expected that Apple will announce it at the developer conference, but the matter is not completely ruled out.

Apple glasses for mixed reality

According to rumors, Apple has delayed the announcement of its mixed reality glasses, which combine augmented reality and virtual reality, many times. However, there is a high possibility that it will be unveiled at this year's developer conference, according to several reports, and will be available for purchase later this year. However, this is not very certain.

Earlier, Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple had postponed the large-scale manufacturing process for Apple Glass. This delay may mean that the glasses may not be revealed at the developer conference. Kuo said that Apple has doubts about the ability of the glasses to make a revolutionary impact like the iPhone, which led to uncertainty about whether it will be presented at the next event, and it may be later in the year.

Operating system updates

Apple will announce iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS Ventura 14, tvOS 17 and watchOS 10 updates, in addition to that if Apple glasses are announced, Apple will announce the first version of its xrOS system.

Among these updates, ‌iOS 17‌ always gets the most attention. And it looks like it will come with much needed features.

The Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC 2023, is scheduled to start on Monday, June 5th and run through Friday, June 9th. The opening speech is expected to begin at 7:00 pm Cairo time, and will be available for live viewing on multiple platforms, such as Apple's website, Apple TV, and YouTube. In addition, the iPhone Islam website will provide comprehensive coverage of the opening speech of the conference immediately after its conclusion and display the highlights of it.
