Since its humble beginnings in the iPhone 4s, Siri has come a long way, and like other programs it has been getting updates, improvements and new features with each update. And in iOS 12, Siri got the best updates ever, but attention is turning to the Siri Shortcuts feature, which is the most prominent in that version (which we will discuss in a series of articles). The rest of the updates that Siri got were not considered, as it got more than ten new features in iOS 12 to know about it.

Siri suggestions

This feature is the most prominent in the iOS 12 update. This feature was previously introduced in iOS 11 and was limited to providing suggestions in the Search for the latest apps that you used, but the update made it more useful, as Siri's suggestions extended to include most of what happens. On your phone, it's like being reminded to call someone you couldn't answer. Or quickly leave the house if you have an appointment.

Note that iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and 6 Plus do not support Siri's suggestions.

Siri shortcuts via settings

You can create Siri shortcuts for some apps in Settings, then tap Siri, Search, and then All shortcuts to see the recommended shortcuts.

You can also search for any application in the phone settings, then click on the relevant application name in the settings, then "Siri and Search", then "Shortcuts."

You will find a list of all available shortcuts in this app that you can add to work with Siri. An app may have multiple options, some apps only have one shortcut and some don't support Siri shortcuts yet.

Try now and search for WhatsApp in your phone setting and see suggested shortcuts

Siri shortcuts for third-party apps

Some apps do not need to go to settings to customize them. Instead, it provides support for Siri shortcuts right from within the app.

For example, the Night Sky app

Night sky

When you click on a planet, star, or something in the sky, you will be able to create a Siri shortcut to open the application and enable you to know the location of this planet immediately.

I put a shortcut about myself, "Where is the moon?" And when I tell Siri this, the app opens directly and guides me to where the moon is.

Customize Siri shortcuts in the Shortcuts app

If you want to create shortcuts that do the tasks you define with commands, the Shortcuts app is the place for you. Just as you are working on workflows With some simple tools and codes, you can create shortcuts.

We will create a series of wonderful articles that bring you the best shortcuts, including knowing what is left on the prayer time, correspondence via WhatsApp to unregistered numbers, search for hadiths, and others.

A deeper knowledge than ever before

The iOS 12 Siri update isn't just about shortcuts. Siri is becoming more knowledgeable than ever before. For example, Siri provides accurate statistics on sports in general, motorsports, and celebrities. If you want to know who is driving at NASCAR today, or learn more about one of your favorite celebrities, Siri has all the facts.

Although Siri used to answer similar questions in the past, it used to rely heavily on Wikipedia, and now it is getting information from more than one source.

Unfortunately, Siri in Arabic is completely different from Siri in English and it seems that it does not support these updates in Arabic yet.

More information about your food

Want to know more about what you're eating? From the amount of calories, fat, sodium and vitamins, just ask Siri as she now has access to the databases of USDA or the United States Department of Agriculture, so your answer will be more accurate. At the bottom of the information displayed in front of you on the screen, you will see more information click on the name of the source.

This feature does not work in Arabic.

Passwords on the i-Cloud chain

The iCloud keychain contains a set of your passwords that you previously entered or saved when you logged into an application or site, now Siri has access to your passwords, so you can request the password from Siri, before Siri shows you. The password must be authenticated first, either by fingerprint, face or finger, or the passcode to unlock the phone.

More tools to display specific photos from the Photos app

Are you looking for a specific picture? In iOS 12, photos and memories are extracted very quickly through Siri, so if you are trying to find a friend, place, memories of the beach, travel or trips in a year ago, let it be for example in 2012, just say that to Siri and you will work to collect all the elements and scenes related to the word or The sentence you said. You can say, Siri, "Show me the pictures you took on the beach in Alexandria in 2012," or "Show me the picture of the cat that you took in the zoo in 2014," and so on.

Translation support between more than 50 language pairs

Siri can be of great use when traveling abroad. They can help translate into and out of your language or into other languages. You only need to ask Siri to translate, for example, “Hey, Siri, how do I say a beautiful day in English” and immediately the translation will appear in writing and voice. But first you will need to enable the language you want to translate from in advance through the language settings of Siri. Meaning be the device language.

Flashlight support

For iPhone X and later, the lamp button is present on the lock screen only, press and hold for a second or two, and the lamp will work in the same way it is closed, and for old iPhones, the control center must be withdrawn and the lamp turned on. There is now a much easier method that does not require a double click or swipe on the iPhone screen. Just ask Siri to turn the flashlight on or off. Say "Hey Siri turn on the flashlight" or "Turn off the flashlight."

Find the iPhone

If you have more than one Apple device besides the iPhone, you can use Siri to help find it. You only have to say, "Where is my iPad?" Or "What is the location of my iPad device?" Or similar, and Siri will automatically use the iPhone-find feature, and a connection will be made and an alert will be issued from the lost device.

What do you think about Siri updates on iOS 12? And which feature did you like? Let us know in the comments.
