Apple's Journal app is great in design and simplicity of use, so since its release I wanted to start a habit of My diaryHowever, I did not succeed in doing so, although I believed that this habit would have a positive impact on my life. Talking to oneself through writing enhances the depth of communication with oneself.
Journal is an app that provides easy ways to keep your diary organized and easy to track. It is worth noting that Apple launched the Journal app last year exclusively on the iPhone, and has not yet launched versions for Mac or iPad devices.
New Features in Journal App with iOS 18
Apple designed the new features to help you organize your day, improve your mood, And increase productivityAll this in addition to improving the user experience.
Transcription of audio recordings
Sometimes you may want to write down something important on your mind but you can’t because you’re in the car; what will you do then? Here comes the feature of transcribing audio recordings, where you will be able to record your diary instead of writing it, in addition to the ability to transcribe audio recordings to get a written copy of them.
Note organizer tool
With the Journal app, you can organize your diaries by sorting them by date, as well as organize your diaries by the date of the event associated with them. In other words, by the date the event occurred, not the date you wrote it down in the app. All this by activating the Moment Date option.
Track user's psychological state
Apple has added a mood tracking feature to the Journal app found on Apple Watches, specifically in the watchOS 10 update. This will give you the ability to add your mood when writing a journal. This is very similar to the features found in the Mindfulness app on Apple Watches, where the Journal app will ask you to choose how you’re feeling at the time of your journaling, with an option to describe your appropriate mood.
Text formatting options
Apple has added some new options for formatting text, where you will be able to choose the color you want from among 120 colors, in addition to tools for organizing text in lists, the ability to create bulleted or numbered lists, and also adding a box for quoting.
Search tools
With iOS 18, Apple has added a search tool that lets you search directly on the app's home page. In addition, the filters the app provides will help you narrow down your search to get to what you want. It's worth noting that you can choose a specific category of content to get to what you want faster. The new categories include: (Photos - Videos - Activity - Places - Music and Podcasts - Texts).
Print tool
Journal app now supports printing written diaries with the ability to save them as PDF files.
New Journal App Widget
Apple didn’t forget to improve the look of the Journal app, adding a wide variety of widgets to the home screen or lock screen. The new home screen widgets include:
- New Entry Widget: Shows where you are writing and contains a button to start writing a new journal.
- Streaks Widget: Shows you how many consecutive days you've written within the app.
- Lock screen widget

It is the biggest joke from Apple. It is a very trivial application and has no benefit despite the advertisements for it by Apple. There are simpler and more efficient note-taking applications like Google Keep or Google Save. It is no different from them. As for Journal and Addict, they have no basis. How do they appear and where is knowledge placed with God?
Welcome, Fares Al-Janabi! 🙋♂️
I think the way we use apps is different for everyone, and that’s what makes the tech world so interesting. Apple’s Journal app may not be your favorite, but there are definitely people who find it their perfect place to take notes. 📝🍏
As for “Widgets”, they appear on the home screen or the lock screen, depending on the user’s preferences.
Finally, thank you for your opinion and I hope you enjoy your tour of the Apple world with iPhoneIslam! 😄📱
I use the regular notes app which I find very practical and I search for what I want just to remember something simple and I find it but this app requires a pen
Hi Arkan 🙋♂️! It seems like you've found the perfect partner in your regular notes app, and that's great! For those who don't need more tools, it's the perfect choice. As for Apple's Journal app, it's basically designed for those who want to try something new and perhaps more detailed in their notes. And don't worry, you don't need a special pen, you can use your device's keyboard 😊. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the wonderful and useful application.
Why don't you support night mode on the site?
Hi Omar Essam 🙋♂️, thanks for asking! The truth is that night mode is a great feature that makes reading in dark conditions easier and reduces eye strain, and I completely understand your desire for that. However, it seems that the site team has other plans at the moment. Don't worry, I'll put your comment in our suggestions list and make sure your voice is heard 📣. Enjoy the rest of your day! 😊
As for me, I deleted this application a long time ago because I no longer need it.
