Every time we mention iTunes in the article annotations, we get a complaint and a permanent comment, which is “This program I do not like / I cannot deal with it / It always wipes my data /…” Given that years have passed since the last time we talked about the program and during these years Apple has modified it Several times, therefore, we decided at iPhone Islam to create a series of articles to explain all its advantages, as a guide for the novice user to get to know it.

iTunes-12

The importance of using iTunes comes from several points, the most important of which are:

  • The only official app dedicated to syncing iOS devices.
  • The only way to create a restore for your device.
  • Save a large number of gigabytes download after performing a restore for your device.

ITunes consists of 3 main sections, and they are:

  • ITunes library, which includes the files that you put in iTunes.
  • ITunes Store, which is the Apple store that you can buy from.
  • Your phone (the device to which you have connected).

We will start by explaining the iTunes library and adding files to it

How can I add any files to my iOS device?

To transfer any audio clips / books / tones / videos from your computer to the iPhone or iPad, you must first add the files to iTunes and then transfer them from iTunes to the iPhone.

You can add files by dragging and dropping them into iTunes or by clicking on File in the top right and then Add File to Library if you want to add a file or the next option "Folder" if you want to add a folder (on Mac, there is one option to add)

* In the event that you want to synchronize audios, books, movies, pictures, etc., go to each step and teach on "Sync" at the top of it, and then at the end click on Sync at the bottom

How can I read books on my iOS device?

In the previous step we explained how to sync audios, books, movies, pictures, and everything. But there is an important note about books, which is that you must have the iBooks application on your device in order for iTunes to synchronize the books. On iOS 8, iBooks comes installed by default, but on previous systems you have to download the app before syncing.

How do I create a ringtone for my iOS device?

Apple places restrictions on ringtones, so you cannot choose any audio file to be the ringtone for your device. But the wonderful thing is that it enables you to create ringtones using iTunes, as follows:

  • Add audio clips as described above.
  • Because Apple puts a restriction that the maximum length of the tone is 40 seconds, here we recommend that you listen to your audio clip and choose the part that you want to become the ringtone, provided that its length is not more than 40 seconds. For example, you say from minute 1 and 25 seconds to minute 2 and 3 seconds.
  • After you know the exact part to be converted into a ringtone, right-click on the audio track and then choose Get info.
  • From the Options tab, choose the start and end time of the tone (which you obtained in the step before the previous one) and press "OK".Get info
  • Then right-click on the audio clip then click on Create AAC Version and you will find the application is creating a new file. Drag this file to outside iTunes and let it be on the desktop, then delete the file that you pulled from the iTunes library.
  • Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r
  • Now you have a ready tone, add it as we do in the files explained above, choose Tones and synchronize it as we explained previously.
  • NB: Go back to the file that you made a ringtone from and click with the right mouse button and choose Get Info, then remove the checkmarks from the start and end times until you listen to the entire audio clip
