When we talked in an article ( Learn all about status bar icons About the TTY feature and the icon that appears in the status bar, which is a phone with a keyboard under it. I wanted many of you to know more about this feature and how it works.
Property TTY:
It is a somewhat old technology that makes the deaf and dumb talk on the phone through a keyboard or writing machine connected to the phone. However, the telecommunications service provider must support this feature and must provide a phone number for the service operator.
For example: If a person who does not hear or speak wants to contact the flight reservations company to change the date of his plane, and there is no way but the phone to do so, that person calls a specific number provided by the telecommunications company and his phone is connected to a typewriter device that has a screen.
Then he starts writing the number he wants to call, and the service operator calls that number and tells the other party that he will talk to someone who does not hear on the other party and he will transmit the conversation to him. Here, the dumb person begins to write what he wants to inform the other party, and the employee in the telecommunications company transmits this conversation to the other party by voice and receives the response and then writes it to the deaf person.
You can watch this video showing how this is done ...
IPhone support for TTY technology
Starting with iOS 10, deaf and dumb people can use TTY technology without any external devices and only using an iPhone (but support for telecom companies is still required and this support is currently only in the United States)
The TTY feature can be activated from the settings of the iPhone device
Settings> General> Accessibility> TTY
This option will only be available if your service provider supports TTY technology, and then you can make text calls by pressing the TTY icon that appears in any call and directs you to the carrier service operator.
Then the shift is made to communicate with the other party in text.
They deserve all of this support and more ..
Very cool. Thank you (and thank you, Apple.)
شكرا لكم
A humanitarian service. All communication companies must provide this feature in order for the deaf and deaf people to benefit from it
A beautiful technology that serves the interests of people with special needs, who are part of society. Governments should not impose on telecommunications companies to support and develop this technology.
We have in Saudi Arabia, innovator of technology, Tty Hatta, if after 220 years
magnificence
All greetings, because it always supports people with needs and does not forget them and develops for them
I expect our Arab countries will support this technology after XNUMX years, on a limited scale, and within XNUMX years the service will expand to reach XNUMX% of the people.
Lovely
In the UAE there are video calls for the deaf at the cost of regular voice calls, and this technology does not need to be text messaging is annoying
But video calls require the other person to know the sign language. What if a deaf and dumb person wants to talk to a specific service, restaurant, or anyone?
What about Android in this matter? Or is Apple's critics not looking at this group of people?
Peace be upon you. Thanks for the information, even though it is a little outdated
new information
thank you
