Apple is working in full swing on new updates, most notably IOS 18 updateThere is still talk about its advantages as long as it is in our hands. The iOS 18 update will bring with it an interesting feature for photography lovers that you may not have heard about yet. With the all-new Photos app, Apple has added a new “Recovered” album that will show you lost or corrupted photos and videos on your device.

According to a report published by 9to5Mac, this new album will be added in the iOS 18 update as well as iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia updates. What is the purpose of this album, and what is the mechanism of its work, here is everything about it.

From iPhoneIslam.com, a close-up of a smartphone screen showing the Photos app icon, which features a colorful, flower-like design. The surrounding icons include a cloud-based app and a Store app, all of which work seamlessly on iOS 18, making photo retrieval easier than ever.

The purpose of this album is to help users find photos and videos that may have been lost (for any reason) and recoverable.

When you update your device to the new version, the system will automatically perform a comprehensive search and scan on the device for photos or videos that may have been lost or damaged.

If any such content is found, a “Recovered” album will appear in the Utilities section within the Photos app.

This album is different from the Recently Deleted album, which keeps deleted photos for 30 days before deleting them permanently.

From iPhoneIslam.com, A hand holds a smartphone screen displaying a prompt to delete 758 items with options to “Delete” or “Cancel” after iOS 18 update.

It's important to distinguish between a Recovered album and an existing Recently Deleted album. While the latter keeps deleted photos for 30 days before removing them permanently, it seems that the “Recovered” album will focus on recovering files that may have been lost for technical reasons or due to data corruption.

This new feature comes on the heels of Apple fixing a bug in iOS 17.5, which caused unexpected photos to appear in some users' photo libraries, even though they thought they had deleted them. The company described this issue as “rare” and may occur with “images that have suffered database corruption.” Perhaps this is what inspired Apple to turn this into a new feature.

Apple recently launched public betas for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and others, allowing interested users to try out the new features before the official release.

Full details have yet to be revealed about exactly how the Recovered album will work, or whether the photos in it will be subject to an auto-deletion policy similar to the Recently Deleted album. Apple is expected to provide more information about this feature in the coming days through trial versions.

This addition is a positive step from Apple to improve the user experience in managing photos and videos. They provide an additional safety net for those who may lose valuable photos due to technical issues or system errors.

To take advantage of this feature and other improvements, users are advised to update their devices to the latest available version as soon as it becomes available. This update is also a good opportunity to review and organize your photo library, and make sure there are backup copies of important photos.

We do not know whether this feature will be available on all devices that support the new updates, or will Apple make it limited to specific devices?

As photo and media management technologies continue to evolve, features like these remain essential to ensuring our digital memories are protected and accessible.
