Why do popular companies turn to crowdfunding sites?

Kickstarter is the most famous and largest fundraising site in the world. You have an idea for a specific product, but you do not have the money to implement it alone, so you pre-sell on Kickstarter and target specific sales. But this concept that Kickstarter is based on is not the one that is applied. We often see famous companies go to collect funding from Kickstarter or any other crowdFunding sites. Why?

Why do popular companies turn to crowdfunding sites?

Do you remember Pebble, which is the de facto innovator of smart watches in its current form? In 2012, it was a new company, so it offered its first hour and collected $ 10 million in financing ... But we were surprised by it, it came back in 2015 with a new version to collect funding and achieved sales of $ 20 million, then a third time in 2016 with a third hour, and it collected nearly $ 13 million. Look at these numbers and you will see that Pebble was in 2012 an unknown company, but it achieved millions and became famous, so why return to crowdfunding sites even though it has the ability to finance its products? !!

Another example is The stethoscope We talked about it a few days ago, Zulu production ... Zulu for those who do not know is a brand owned by Anker Anker Which is the most famous and one of the largest accessories companies in the world and has achieved sales of more than half a billion dollars (an estimate), so why raise financing for a headset? He denied that she was targeting $ 50 in financing, so is the company unable to meet this amount ?! Denied may have spent more than it on her scientific research. What is the secret?

Free ads

What does a company do when it launches a new product? It's propaganda, of course, and this applies even to the world's largest company, Apple itself. Sometimes a large part of the cost of the product is the advertising itself, not the manufacturing (such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola drinks). Kickstarter provides the magic thing with free promotions. In fact, Kickstarter does not provide it directly, but there are millions from all countries of the world following this site and the last report I read was the participation of 10 million people in financing operations, with total amounts exceeding 3 billion dollars. Then you are in front of a magical place just put your product in it and millions will watch it. So imagine that millions see a product of a famous company that they know and trust ?!

Another point is that hundreds of specialized sites follow crowdfunding sites - including us - when we see a special product we write about it (for free, by the way). This is repeated with many sites. All of this is for free, whereas if they wanted to write all these sites for them, they would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars (there may be paid sites, but the majority are free)

Test a new product

Another advantage of Kickstarter is that it enables you to make pre-production sales. Accordingly, you can judge your product. Often or we can always say it is a different product from the traditional as we saw in Liberty headset . A new feature and an important update in a particular product the market may or may not like. Of course you can deny doing a market study, but there is better than Kickstarter? Display your product and you will see the supply and demand for it ... The product will be offered at several prices, so you can know the critical point that if it exceeds the price of your product, sales will decrease significantly. All this before you order the factory to produce.

What do you think of these reasons? Do you see other reasons that might be behind the big companies resorting to crowdfunding sites?

greetings to you all. You have also brought us back to interest in Arab companies and productions. On this subject, there is an Arab company to finance and support projects and its name is Eureka. I hope you write about it and about its experience. Eurecca.com

Certainly the main reason is like what I mentioned free publicity, and if there are other reasons, then this is the most important reason, great free publicity

The best comment

• Advertising • Knowing the desire for the product
